From the MutterMuseum - the deformed ribcage of a woman who wore corsets vs a normal ribcage
Just as a heads-up, there are proper and improper ways to wear a corset. Contrary to popular belief, not every Victorian woman tightlaced, and neither does everyone today. You can wear a corset for support and not have it so tight that it permanently deforms your body; it will still restrict your movements as far as bending at the waist goes (depending on how long the corset is/etc.), but you can breathe and such. Problem is that, just as you get women today who wear too-high heels that permanently damage their joints and back just to be fashionable, so you had women who would wear their corsets too tightly. But most of the “thirteen inch waist” stories came not from reality, but erotica of the time. Some women would have narrowed ribcages from being corseted at an early age, but as modern tightlacers can attest, this doesn’t mean that you can’t breathe or function.
In 1983 a man was tested to see if he could sense god if all his senses were taken away. Every sense nerve in his brain was disconnected. He could not feel, hear, see or smell. He began reporting he could hear the voices of the dead and gave precise details that he could have not known. He then said he could see them and began clawing at his eyes, it turned to screaming and biting chunks of his flesh off. His last words were “I have spoken with God, and he has abandoned us” and died.
My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
Apparently some vegans are telling people not to eat honey to support bees.
STOP. STOP NOW.
DO YOU EVEN KNOW HOW BEES WORK?
Buy honey (local if possible) -> support beekeepers -> support bees.
I swear people don’t even think this stuff out.
Beekeepers provide bees with an environment in which they can live, and are encouraged to thrive. Bees then have a big huge giant person who can deal with any threats to the hive.
Yes, honey is a winter food supply for bees, but beekeepers (unless they’re dicks, in which case they’d be shooting themselves in the foot) will NEVER take too much honey from a hive, and will always ensure that bees have enough food. Think about it, you’re not going to starve a source of income/hobby, are you?
I think a few ppl took Bee Movie too seriously.
Amanda Plummer, you listening?
So I told my mom that I was asexual, and she didn’t believe me. She told me I had a hormone problem, and took me to get checked for tumors.
Please reblog this if you are asexual, or believe that it is possible for one person to not feel sexual attraction to either gender.
(I kinda wanna show her up)
